Business writing styles vary among cultures. When working with American businesses, best results come from using American style. This book guides you through writing and editing practice as you review troublesome grammar and punctuation issues. Included are examples from a number of industries: science, technology, engineering, banking, general business, and others. You also will have an opportunity to work with your own documents. Executive Writing: American Style is a revised version of Executive Writing: A Style Manual for the Business World, which has been popular among professionals and students since 1997.
In Executive Writing: American Style, you will:
- learn effective writing styles and techniques
- practice editing skills (cutting excessive words, choosing the right word, using idioms correctly), master syntax, and review troublesome basics (verb use, pronouns, prepositions, articles, and punctuation)
- find writing examples from a variety of professions, along with a glossary of commonly-used American idioms
ABOUT THE AUTHORS
The authors worked together at Diamond Associates, a training and consulting firm, created by Harriet Diamond in 1985. Among the company’s offerings are business writing courses customized to specific industries. In developing these programs, the three often integrated English as a second language essentials to meet client needs. They served a diverse clientele throughout the US and Southeast Asia. Harriet Diamond, Marsha Fahey, and Linda Eve Diamond wrote and customized the courses; Harriet and Marsha delivered the training. Marsha is now the vice president of editorial services for a firm that consults to pharmaceu- tical companies. Harriet and Linda Eve are both freelance writers and the authors of several books; their work can be found at HarrietDiamond.net and LindaEveDiamond.com.
